Elder Dallin H. Oaks preaches protection of the Constitution

I took this from KSL.com and loved it. Not because I am LDS, but because this came from a former member of the Utah Supreme Court Justice, Dallin H. Oaks. I also love this quote by Elder Oaks:

"Some of the things said by various persons in recent public discourse cause me to urge that we be more careful in the way we throw around the idea that something is unconstitutional. A constitution should not be used as a weapon to end debate."

Too many persons are using the US constitution as a *weapon* to get what they want. When clearly they have not studied the constitution themselves.

Video Courtesy of KSL.com

Click on the link for Elder Oaks full talk on Protection of the Constitution.

It was also claimed by religious leaders that Freedom of Religion is under attack. In the USA we have the right under the Deceleration of Independence and the US Constitution to have Freedom of Religion. That of course means that we can by law, have the right to belong and practice any religion in the USA. It is imperative that we keep our Freedom of Religion. Not only did our founding father's of the Deceleration but the founders of the Constitution gave so much of themselves to give us such freedoms. Some of our founding fathers lost everything; their family's, lively hood, riches and reputations to give us the freedoms that we so do enjoy! People are fighting to take away our precious freedoms, we must fight to take it back!

Where has the time gone

I know it has been almost a week since my last post. But a lot have been going on. My friend, my cat died Sunday morning. I know he is just a cat but he was my friend. I'm still trying to get use to having him gone.

I'm getting ready for a trip. And on top of all of this I'm also getting ready for a family reunion. I'll be ready for a vacation after my trip:}

I sent a care package of to my brother who is in Afghanistan. He said that he got their safely but the internet connection is not very good. He said this about Afghanistan, this is great:

"Afghanistan, looks just like Utah. I went half way around the world just to see home. What's up with that?"

So if you just want to see what Afghanistan looks like just come to Utah. If you live in Utah, well now you know what Afghanistan looks like and you don't need to go there to see it.

Cheers Everyone!!!

A Kitten named Bella

SIL Andria got a kitten for her boys. Guess where that kitten is right now!

In my bathroom!

I put here in there because of an adult male cat nicked named "His Highness". Yep he has me trained, (go figure). I'm allergic to cats, and this little kitten loves to coddle so she is very social. I will only have her for only a couple more days. My SIL is getting her house ready before she moves in. After she is done with that and is moved in, she is taking the kitten Bella with her, (she is a Twilight fan). My nephews loves their new kitten. They cant wait to take her home for good.

Yeah I know, I'm allergic to cats and yet I have one.

You know the different between dogs and cats right? Don't think of the obvious.

Dogs have owners.
Cats have a staff.

Cheers Everyone!

Seth's up date

Hi everyone I'm doing a much needed up date for my brother Seth.

He is in Indiana for training before he goes off to Afghanistan. He says that it rains a lot there. He is taking Pashtu lessons. That is the language of the Pashtun (sp?) people. From what I gather on what he said, the army learned this language from the MTC (missionary training center). But knowing the army they didn't learn much. So this should be an interesting experience for him and wish him all the luck.

I had no idea who or what the Pashtun people are or where they come from. No offence to any of the Pashtun people. So I googled them. This is what I found out Pashtuns of Afghanistan

Cheers everyone!

Music

OK I did a new musiclist for summer. I have a strange list, everything from Beethoven-Rachmaninoff-Beach boys-Muppet-The monkeys-Jerry Lewis-Frank Sinatra-Judy Garland-Gene Kelly- and so on. Check it out.

I know it's strange. Classical I had to put on there, with the some nerdy stuff, and others that are considered as classic.

Have fun!

Awesome news/Review of Star Trek

I am an aunt again!!!!! Ok I'm not related to them but I have been their friend for over 13 years. So by all counts I'm an aunt. Char had her baby this morning at 2:58 little Ian is 7lb 11oz. I'm so happy for them. Al is on cloud 9. They are going to make the cutest parents!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok last night I broke down and watched Star Trek. It was worth my time, and money. I thought that it was funny, I laughed all though it. I have never thought of myself as a die hard Star Trek fan, but enough to not expect a lot from this movie and hoping that it would not be bad. It was such a surprise for me. After the movie people in the movie theater were clapping, they are very impressed.

The directing, writing, special effects, and computer graphics were good. A long ways from a humble set in a garage. Yes my dear Star Trek fans. The T.V show started in a garage. You know the phrase:

"The sky's the limit."

I also saw the trailer for G.I Joe. It looked like the trailer gave a way the movie. So I don't need to see it now, I feel like I just have.

Sunday the day of confrontations.

Ok the choir director in my ward confronted me, this is how our conversation went.

C.D: "Hollie what do I need to do to get you to come to choir? If I need to tap dance on your door steep, I'll do what I ever it takes. "

Me: "Hmmmm a pregnant woman tap dancing on my door step? No I would feel so bad if you did that." ( can you imagine the mental picture I got? I felt bad, just thinking about that.)

C.D "What do I need to do. Choir starts at 11:00 A.M! How much later does to need to be?"

Me: "Well I have developed this habit. My time is from about 11:00 P.M to about 3:00 A.M. That is when I'll read, watch movies, things like that. So I don't wake up until 11:00."

C.D: (all the while laughing) "that's fine if I need to wait until church next year is at 9:00 A.M and choir will be after church. I'll do that! What ever it takes. "

One hour later my bishop and his second councilor found me in the hall way. Now you know it is bad when the bishop corners you. But when you do see not only your bishop, but one of his councilor's walking to corner you with the same expression on their faces; your life flashes before your eyes looking for some grievous sin that you have not repent of yet. I couldn't think of anything, so I was dead nervous that I had forgotten something.

They both asked me if I would speak in church. I about laughed out loud hysterically, just out of pure relief . This is how the conversation with the three of us went:

B:" We would like you to talk in sacrament on a topic that I know that you will be very good at."

Me: " Oh you mean on how to be bossy?"
(they both laughed)

SC: "You would love that wouldn't you?"

B: "No, but I'm sure you would be good at that. The topic is 'Being good to your fellowmen and Charity', the two are connected." ( yet they are. Read the article by Elder Marvin J. Ashton. "The Tongue Can Be a Sharp Sword.")

Me: "yes they are."

SC: "She is good, she got it faster then I got it. I had to think about it."

Me: "I gave a lesson on this topic in Relief Society while I was attending the singles ward."

B: "Yes he did had to think about it. I knew she would be good for this. Now all you need to do is take out your notes, and you have it all done."

Me: "No I don't have my notes any longer. When I moved I had to throw things away. It's called cleaning things out."

There is more to the conversation but I won't tell it. But the moral to this story is...........Don't throw out your old lesson's or talks. You might need them one day. My problem is that I'm not a exactly a pack rat. Or become inactive? Nah, I'll stay active. Will I still do the talk? I don't know, I can still say no.

Cheers everyone!!

My last up date

My last up date for this blog? No. Sorry to burst some bubbles. Remember you don't need to read this.

My last up date for the road show. We have performed it 3 times on Thursday. In all three building I had sound difficulty. A wire was shorted out, the sound was bad in short. But all in all it our show was good.

After the last show people would stop me and tell me that it was just good and was amazed that my Mother, Andrea Fife and I have written something like that, the music, choreography, everything. They loved it. My co director was excellent. It was great.

Tonight was the last night. And we got an award!

The Award is??? The Best Musical!!!!!!!!

We work so hard. Everything is original for the exception of one song "Turkey in the Straw." That is public domain.

Last min details.

Today I will be working on last min. detail touches for the road show. Lighting, sound, curtains, audience placements; that's right audience placements.

The plan was that I was going to help sing the songs. Well, sing at my cast in front of the audience, but I found out that I need to be at the very back working that sound system.

During this show I have learned much about the people in my ward. One took me so surprise, I had to get past this person exterior and find the person inside. This person hides things well. Another one, is a young woman whom I have known all her life. She is a natural on stage, she just comes alive. She is amazing to work with. The majority of the cast are stepping out of their comfort zone. The are doing just fine.

Epiphanies

Don't you just love epiphanies? I usually will get them at the most unexpected times. Like this morning; I got one while I was taking a shower. This one was so powerful that I got goosebumps. I thought of this powerful scene for the play that I'm writing. while I was thinking about this scene I got a little emotional.

I'm so excited for this scene. I would love to tell you about it, it's not going to happen. Besides it is just the first drafted. I usually go though 2-3 ruff drafts at average before the finale.

I would say I'm sorry, but I'm not.

Something to smile about

OK I'm excited. I have been working on co writing a play. I have a play house interested in putting it one the stage. Will it happen? That is still up in the air. If it will be put on, it will happen sometime next year. I still need to get it copy write.

First things first. I need to get the Road Show out of the way. I need to get some more research so that I know that everything is right. This play looks amazing right now. It needs to be expanded of course be we are on the right track.

So is this something to smile about? Oh yes it is!

Last min. touches

I need to do last min. touches on the props for the Road Show. I have a bench that needs to be painted. So I'm off to Lows to find the paint.

The weird thing is that this bench needs to be the color of raw copper. So that means a lot of creating painting.

Get this last practice the other person that is in charge of this did not even show up. He needed to be there. I was so disappointed in him. When you are committed to do something be there, people are counting on you. So yes, everyone is needed and important.

My little bit of happiness

Today I had finely found jeans that are in my size. I found them at Costco. I have been looking for 5 months. No Joke! I was floored. I could almost never find anything in my size.

I'll tell you this it is so good to find pants that won't fall off my back side. They fit yeah!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning I went to see brother Seth in his unit formation, before he goes to Afghanistan. At times it was hard to keep the tears back. But I did. They said a prayer. Within this prayer it asked for blessings to keep the solders safe and be successful in their mission. Some of these solders look so young.

Good luck Seth we are praying for you.

I can't talk

Well for the last 4 days I have been sick. In fact I'm still sick! But on the up hill.

The result my voice isn't very strong. So this pose a problem for me as a director. But thank goodness for lemon juice. It keeps the voice from leaving me altogether.

Every little bit helps right!
