Well for the last 4 days I have been sick. In fact I'm still sick! But on the up hill.
The result my voice isn't very strong. So this pose a problem for me as a director. But thank goodness for lemon juice. It keeps the voice from leaving me altogether.
Every little bit helps right!

My unique Method
Last RS practice the girls was questioning my own interpretation of my own work. The woman playing Prudy for me is married in real life. They had a problem with that. The thing with acting the actor/actress is on stage he or she become someone else. The the actor/actress comes off stage the person he/she has pro trade no longer existed.
They have tried to get me rewrite my own work. When I said no and argued, and defend my own work one of them tried to go over my head. It didn't work.
There is a method to my madness. I know how to interpret my own work. What was put together for the RS is only a small part in the big scheme the things. A very small part.
I understand that people for centuries have defended there own work. Even the big names like Leonardo, Plato, Homer, Shakespeare, Mozart, and etc. It's just frustrating when people continue to question me left and right, trying to make my own work in what they think is better. My work do not have blunders. Yes there are always bugs to work out but they are not the same as blunders.

This is what I get!
This is what happens when your bishop knows about your talents. He ask you to do the nearly impossible. What am I talking about?
Lets face it. We all want to use our talents, but secretly we think one of the following:
Of course it doesn't help when your bishop is your next door neighbor, you both have been in the same ward for almost 20 years and was in two other plays that I have directed. Minus the 3.5 years I was at a superficial singles ward. I also scouted other single wards in SLC with a couple of my friends. I ended up back in my home ward. I'm more comfortable there. There are a lot of weird single wards around you know!
Back to the talents issue. We all have great and amazing talents. We use them everyday. Some come naturally others we need to work at it and work hard. Like me with cooking. I still need to work very hard at that.
But one of my talents is of course drama. I prefer to stay in the back, writing, directing, things like that. So the ward RS was kinda shoved in my face, so-to-speak. I have co written and I am co directing this one. Like I have mention in past post. But this is differently one of those time I wished that this particular talent of mine stayed hidden from the bishop that has known me for about 20 years. (impossible task I know, but a girl can dream!)
Why did I decided to co direct? Because I'm working with the youth and ward members who have no idea what they are doing. I thought that my troubles would be solely with the youth. But it is with the adults. Go figure. The youth is working with me beautifully!!!
But all in all the RS is coming together and is starting to look amazing. But the lights still need to be fixed.
Lets face it. We all want to use our talents, but secretly we think one of the following:
- I don't want to.
- Can you ask someone else?
- Do you know how much additional work you are asking me to do?
- Pleas don't ask me to do it.
But you end up do whatever your bishop ask.

I call it "The War on Women"
Today I went to one of my old schools. Lake Ridge Elementary. I took my nephew Daniel there for some further testing to see what he test at and if he will be in a higher kindergarten when he starts school. I walked on to that school grounds and a flood of memories came rushing back.
Being in a special class in kindergarten only because I tested to high. I should have been in the first grade. If I remember right there were only 2 of us within that class. When I was in the 6th grade I sprained my ankle. How I did that was I decided to swing around a poll and of course landed weird. The strange thing is that same poll is still there. I saw the place where I would meet my friends before school. Where I played basket ball, boys against girls of course, no one won the bell rang before we could finish the game. Standing out in the cold wet snow. Also being afraid of one teacher that I had for kindergarten and first grade.
Enough of memory lane.
My nephew and I was walking home when a stupid guy leaned out of the car window and yelled at me a hurtful comment 'fat......" Ok I'm a size 4 so that tells me that no matter what I do or what size I am; I will never be enough. So this rises the repeated question.
What is this obsession on woman, and the body that our society has?
All I can think of is that an all out war has been taken place on women. We have been attacked by the media, family, friends, boyfriends, husbands and piers. Because of this war; society is falling apart. Why women and not men? Lets take a look at Shakespeare's Macbeth. This teaches powerfully about the influence of women. She tells her husband:
" Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be What thou are promis'd yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o'th' milk of human kindness."
She calls him a coward and convince him to do what it takes to be king. Latter within her famous monologue she sales her soul, she stated:
"......Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me hear; And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty! Make thick my blood. Stop up the access and passage to remorse, That no compunctious visiting of nature Shake my fell purpose, not keep peace between the effect and it! Come to my woman's breast, and take my milk for gall, you murdering ministers, Wherever in your sightless substances You wait on nature's mischief! Come thick night and pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell, That my keen knife see not the wound it makes nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark, To cry, Hold, hold!"
When Lady Macbeth said: "Stop up the access and passage to remorse.." She refuses to feel guilty on what she plans to do. "Take my milk for gall?" Milk= nurturing, life giving; remember she wants to be come queen and will do anything to do it. Bruce C. Hafen said it better then I can. He stated: "Lady Macbeth's womanly heart makes her incapable of taking a life unless she renounces her female instinct to give and nurture life. Later, after they have killed the king, she goes insane, then dies-not just from guilt, but perhaps from renouncing her very nature."
The Milk of Human kindness= Female nurturing, the moral influence of women.
This all out war against women is making women feel devalued, stupid, incapable, human beings that are not worth to be taken serious consideration. Because of this women think that to be valued we must be excessively independent. Be that full time working woman and not have time for the family. Because of this some women are loosing this war. Experts think this is why our society is falling apart.
We all must fight back! We are not stupid. We are very capable. We have surmount impossible odds. We are worth fighting for. To pull society back together and be more civilized means to fight back. Be that nurturing, moral influence. Make time for the family. Become that good nurturing, moral influence upon society, don't give up hope. A woman of hope creates a society of hope. It starts with us.

Changed background again
Ok I had to change my background before someone will say:
"Change your back ground it's not Saint Paddy's day anymore."
So I had to find something that I could live with. This will stay until I get ambitious and creative enough to make my own background.
Auntie Jennie I will help you change your background on your blog. I promise. I will call you tomorrow. I have been meaning to do that for weeks; I know.

Painting our nails/ Pi Day
Today while I was watching my nephew Daniel I got my nail polish out and painted my toe nails. Not the same as the real pedicure I know but it will do. So my nephew Daniel wanted to have his finger nails to glow-in-the-dark. So I got my glow-in-the-dark nail polish and he painted his nails.
He also brought over his Lego Indiana Jones game. He was showing me how to die properly. He said:
"Look see this is how you die."
Yep he got a kick out of that! So he was showing me how to play the game. I would have the game for like 2 min. then he would take it away and start playing then he would say:
"Look see this is how you play! You need to jump hear, you need to use this guy so he can crawl. Press the "A" button and you can build things!"
It was fun this afternoon. My nephews are fun. Yes even the one with autism. What gets Jeremy is that people in the ward will ask him if his son has autism, then when the find out that he is autistic the response is:
"Really? He doesn't look like he has autism."
I have no clue what he is "suppose" to look like, but I think that he looks like my Grandpa Robb.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok now tell me what you think about this. Go to Scothoser's Corner It talks about how the House of Representatives voted March 14 to be National Pi Day. Of all the things to vote on. Go figure. Oh well that is jest one excuse to eat a pie. Think about this you can have a Pie-eating-contest to celebrate the day, or do a math problem that has Pi in it. You choose. But as for me I think that I would like the Pie.
I know our government needs some major help. Of all the things to vote on. Could they come up with a very good plan to fix our nation?

Miracles of Miracles!!!!
Yes. yes, yes!!! The young women were there tonight at our RS (road show) practice! I'm so glad. I was jumping up and down for joy! Ok I was running to the other side of the building to unlock to door, but I was smiling while I was running.
The down side the young men were not there, they had an activity. The one time the Y/M are not there the Y/W are. I need to have both the YW/YM come together at the same night same time and dance together. What it this?? Are they still in the "girls have cooties-boys have germs" stage?
The challenge that I am now tackling is to have the curtains fixed and the burned out lights replaced/put in new ones. Yep we are missing light bulbs. A lot of them. Because of that the people on stage look like they are sick. I jest cant have that.

Directing a road show while keeping your head!
If anyone knows how to do that please let me know!
I'm not getting enough cast support. So the plan is to give it two more weeks and if needs be, shorten the script. This is so that the 4th ward will have something. The problem? Our boundaries have changed so the ward is new, nobody wants to talk to each other. When we do, everyone is overly nice for the reason nobody want's to offend anyone else. But we are so worried not to offend anyone we end up offending everyone and ourselves. How crazy is that?
Another problem. As one of the authors of the road show script, and both of us are history buffs; the need to keep the script historically correct is a must. We have found out that people are having problems with that aspect of the script. So it looks like we must follow the history books and teachers example's and "clean" up history.

My teacher made me stupid!
So what have I learned directing plays, road show, and mellow dramas?
So what have I learned directing plays, road show, and mellow dramas?
- Do not make a new ward do a road show. The support is not there.
- Do not keep things historically correct.
- Always go to the person who is over the stake road show and get all info.
- Always have the back up from the bishop.
- Stay positive, cry/vent at home.
- Stay in contact of the music director, and choreographer
- Have another director, stay within the same vision. If one is fed up at the moment and need time out, the other can take over.
- Bounce ideas off of each other (ie. writers, directors, choreographer, etc.)

Road Show Up Date!
Things are working out with the Road Show. I will not change anything about the script. I have done enough of that already.
We will have a family photo done tomorrow. Thank you Rick for doing that before Seth leaves for Afghanistan. I know that it was such short notice.
Also thank you all for the love, support, and your prayers.
